CINCINNATI – PatientPoint®, the trusted leader in patient and physician engagement solutions, today announced exciting growth within its information technology and operations teams that further strengthens the company’s current offerings and accelerates its continued digital transformation. The company has named Dan Owens as Chief Technology Officer, promoted Kimberly Theiss to Chief Operations Officer and named Scott Schemmel as Executive Vice President of Information Technology.
PatientPoint delivers educational and sponsored brand content through a cohesive communication platform that includes digital waiting room screens, interactive exam room touchscreens, a physician medical news program and a new mobile communications platform launching in the coming months. Owens, Theiss, Schemmel and their teams will provide the technical and operations support for the company to continue its rapid digital expansion and launch its new mobile offerings. By the end of the year, PatientPoint programs are on track to impact patient-physician discussions in more than 51,000 physician offices and 1,000 hospitals nationwide.

As Chief Technology Officer, Owens will lead the teams that design and build the technology platforms on which PatientPoint digital products will run. He has more than two decades of domestic and international IT management and leadership experience and joins PatientPoint from cloud-based workforce platform eVerifile, where he served as Chief Technology Officer. He previously served as Vice President of Software Development for PGi, the world’s largest dedicated provider of collaboration software and services, as well as Director of Engineering for WebMD.
As Chief Operations Officer, Theiss will oversee customer service, installation and field servicing, print production, warehousing services, purchasing and vendor relationships. She will also lead the PatientPoint Management Information Systems Group, which focuses on leveraging the latest technology and software to enhance productivity and improve business intelligence and reporting. Theiss most recently served as Executive Vice President of Field Operations.
As Executive Vice President of Information Technology, Schemmel and his teams will deploy, monitor and maintain PatientPoint digital networks in physician offices and hospitals nationwide, manage data infrastructure to support enterprise business intelligence and analytics and oversee enterprise IT. Most recently, he served as Chief Information Officer for chemical manufacturer Ciner Resources Corporation. Schemmel also served as Senior Vice President of Global Information Technology at PGi, where he worked closely with Owens.
The growth of the PatientPoint information technology and operations teams follows several significant accomplishments over the past year. In June 2017, the company announced a $140 million capital raise to dramatically expand its digital point-of-care network. Soon after, PatientPoint announced a partnership with Reflect, the largest provider of digital signage solutions in North America, to power and expand its digital capabilities. In August 2017, the company acquired leading digital oncology waiting room provider Patient Education Network. Last fall, PatientPoint entered into a partnership with The Veteran Group to offer its communication platform to Veterans Affairs and other federal healthcare provider facilities.
